PIJA HOCEVAR
Biography
An award-winning musician Pija Hočevar is known for her remarkable level of artistry and technical proficiency, for her deep understanding of musical interpretation and expression as well as continuous sharing of her passion for music that is infectious and inspiring to those around her.
Pija finished her flute studies at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana, Slovenia, and the ZUYD University-Conservatorium Maastricht in the Netherlands, and afterward enriched her skills with studies of Edgar Willems music pedagogy, Waldorf pedagogy, Alexander Technique, and others, what soon started to result in her flute students winning numerous awards.
As a classically-trained flutist, she performed across Europe with the Slovenian Radio Symphony Orchestra, Slovenian Philharmonic, EUYWO Orchestra, BMT International Orchestra, Academia Ars Musicae Orchestra, deOrkest and Ossiach Academy Orchestra, and Ave Orchestra, as well as with the Slovenian woodwind quintet Noobsayswhat and international trio Mirus.
Her goal in the classroom is not only to raise great generations of flutists but also to raise well-rounded musicians.
